This incredible and complex system through the years has been in continuous change.

That is a dialect and it is not a variety less correct than standards versions.

2. Languages in Contact

Summarizing

In today's world, contact between two or more languages for political, cultural, economic, and other reasons is a common reality. Most countries in the world are in a state of multilingual coexistence, that is, in a state of multilingualism; in fact, there are more languages than countries. Hardly any country is completely monolingual has only one language

A lingua franca, also known as a bridge language, lingua franca, business language, auxiliary language, vehicle language or liaison language, is a language used systematically to enable communication between groups of people who do not share a mother tongue or dialect, especially if it is a third language different from the speaker's two native languages. Throughout human history, lingua francas have developed throughout the world, sometimes for commercial reasons (so-called "business languages" promote trade), but also for cultural, religious, diplomatic, and administrative convenience, and as a means of information exchange between scientists and other scientists of various nationalities. A world language, a language spoken by many people internationally, is a language that can serve as a global lingua franca.

A Pidgin is the contact between two or more languages generates multilingualism over a long period of time, in which case there are speakers whose mother tongues are different, and therefore you have to "build" some resources, considering the disadvantages of not having a common. language, an oral language. This process is called pidginization. It usually occurs when a country begins to colonize an area and the people living in that area do not speak the colonizer's language as logically. Therefore, pidgins are simple varieties that do not pursue purposes such as literary creation.

Creoles emerged when pidgin languages began to take hold in the region and were transmitted as native languages to descendants. A pidgin becomes creole throughout creolization process. Moreover, Creole is spoken both in the limited domain (at home) and in the public domain (institutions, media). In other words, pidgin is not a standard language, while Creole is a fully developed language. Article for more information

Bilingualism refers to the ability to speak two or more languages, either by an individual speaker (individual bilingualism) or within a society (societal bilingualism).

Codeswitching occurs when a groups of bilinguals speak the same two languages and it is a speech style unique to bilinguals,, in which fluent speakers switch languages between or within sentences, as illustrated by the following sentences:

Sometimes I'll start a sentence in English and I termino en Español.

I mean, c'est un idiot. More information about codeswitching Reasons why codeswitching

Conclusion about the topic: The Contact of Language is a phenomenon that has been occurred  during all history and historical events such as colonization. The  contact of two different language produce the necessity of communication, and this one with other factors (commercialization,  globalization, politics, etc.),have produced pidginization, creolization, bilingualism, code switching and Lingua Franca or the ways the human can invent to achieve communication with others.

3. Language in Use

In this video you can see definitions and examples of the following topics: Slang, Jargon and Slang, Taboo or Not Taboo?, Racial and National Epithets, Language and Sexism, Secret Languages and Language Games.

Here we answer some questions about these issues.

How many languages are in use?

Over 7000 languages are spoken across the world today. Chinese, the language with the most native speakers, has 13 variations, whilst similarly, Arabic has 20 variations, reflecting the wide range of countries and cultures it is spoken in.

What is the importance of language in use in society?
Language is one of the most important parts of any culture. It is the way by which people communicate with one another, build relationships, and create a sense of community. There are roughly 6,500 spoken languages in the world today, and each is unique in a number of ways

What are jargons in linguistics?
The term "jargon" refers to any in-group or specialized language used by small groups of like-minded individuals. This terminology is usually specialized to the function of the group, and will be used by and among group members as a sign of belonging, status, and for keeping out outsiders.

How does language contribute to gender inequality?
If language informs how people think, then variations in the use of gender in language, such as referring to objects as male or female, might account for parallel differences in attitudes about gender equality. (For example, in Spanish, the moon is marked as feminine by the definite article la, as in la luna.)

What is the most gendered language?
The world's four most spoken gendered languages are Hindi, Spanish, French and Arabic. They share many of the same gender patterns: masculine as the default grammatical gender, mixed-gender groups using masculine endings, and feminine nouns derived from masculine versions.

What is language and sexism?
In Language and Prejudice, Tamara Valentine defines linguistic sexism as "the use of words that arbitrarily assigns roles or characteristics to people on the basis of sex or gender." This page will help you research such words and information on this topic.

How does language affect sexism?
Feminists have long argued that gendered language contributes to sexism, and some research supports this. One study found that speakers of Spanish and German, both gendered, expressed more sexist attitudes than English speakers.

How can we prevent sexism in language?
You can avoid sexist language by using passive voice or plural constructions, by eliminating pronouns, or by switching to direct address. Whenever possible, you should choose from among nonsexist terms that are increasingly available. Be sensitive when you write. Avoid any language that might offend others.

Why should we avoid sexist language?
Why do writers need to avoid sexist language? A writer wants to present a good ethos or character to the audience so the audience will find him or her believable. A good ethos will make your arguments even more convincing; a bad ethos will undermine your arguments by making your reader doubt your credibility.

What epithet means?
A characterizing word or phrase accompanying or occurring in place of the name of a person or thing.

Conclusion: All languages have interesting or funny phenomena such as argots and jargons; less lovely words as are taboo and sexist words or words that arise as an option of this taboo utterances, euphemism. This occurs possibly because people is not perfect and these phenomena are reflect feelings, behaviors and imperfections of humans. As somebody said "the language is a mirror of society".

Hello, my name is Eunice, I am 31 years old and I live in Tegucigalpa Honduras.
I am a calm and sociable person, I like to make friends with people from other countries with
whom I enjoy talking about culture, climate, gastronomy, music, among other topics.

Reflection: I learned that languages have a historical origin, which over time has changed significantly, both in its structure and in pronunciation and the context in which words or phrases are used.

An important aspect is that despite the fact that the structure of the sentences has undergone certain changes, it still maintains an order with a logical sense. In other words, each sentence already has a pre-established order, which if words or in some cases punctuation marks are omitted, will have a meaning or a different meaning from the one that is intended to be transmitted, or sometimes it will not make any sense.

Reflection: In general, the study and learning of these topics promote an interesting knowledge about linguistics, they help us to know aspects of it that is not possible to know without the proper study, nor superficially because it is quite deep, we know from its history where the changes have begun, until today, where the changes still do not cease, and thus knowing how important language has been since the beginning to humanity.

P. Soley Cruz Jimenes

My name is Patricia Soley Cruz Jimenes, and I prefer my second name. I am 25 years old. I like the topics related with language, and I do not like selfies and photos.

Reflection: Language world is integrate and fascinated. We speak daily and the speak action can seem a basic thing, but all topics of language that we use unconsciously (slangs, argot, dialect, taboo words, euphemisms), are complex and would be a thesis theme. And what about bilingualism? If it is wonderful how humans have the capacity to acquire language, the ability to learn a second or third language is just incredible.
